![]() Actually I put the same book on both, read until the battery dies down, then switch Iliads, charge no.1 up, lather, rinse, repeat, until finished. Your comment about PDFs brings up a question. I have not been able to get pdfs to size properly, the only ones readable are those from Feedbooks or Manybooks which are formatted for the Iliad page. And of course the documents included on the device from Irex, which are in pdf. I've followed the zoom instructions and have not been satisfied with the size increase. Just drawing an imaginary line though mid-page after pressing zoom makes it 'almost' right, but never quite right. I always wind up converting pdfs to prc and can control font size easily in that format. What exactly am I doing wrong with the zoom? Last edited by Kingston; 03-31-2008 at 09:57 AM. |

There isn't. There does seem to be variation between units (probably what he's seeing), but nothing specific to v1 or v2. Some screens just seem to come out better than others, probably something during the manufacturing.

Ok - i foudn this on ebay and returned to this site to find people talking about it.
I've been looking into an Iliad for a while so this is tempting - but im one of those people who mostly want to use this to read my comics. Question is I intend to use this more as an image viewer -im not worried about cbr/pdf/etc but if thats the case should i be getting a v2. Is there much difference in viewing images between the two. Come to think of it - can it even read jpeg/gif - i assume it can. Although if anyone can think of a cheaper portable jpeg viewer thats the same size let me know... |

There is no difference between a v1 and v2 iLiad from the perspective of functionality. Both run the same version of the software.
If I've understood all the forum postings about these two versions, the differences going from a v1 to a v2 are 1) slightly longer battery life and 2) a change in the design for the back of the case. The technical specs from the iRex web site state that the iLiad supports jpg, bmp, and png graphic formats. -hope this helps, Jeff |

I don't know much about the built-in image viewer, but from my perspective there is more development going on in the PDF reader scene (e.g. bookmarks, full-screen etc.). So for reading your comics I would advise to convert them to PDF before reading them on the iLiad.

If we are talking about the same eBay seller (rkgarinc), these units are as claimed. I happen to live in the Annapolis area so was able arrange a pick up of the unit in a face-2-face meeting. These are being sold by an individual working for ARINC and are extra, unopened units from a project. -Jeff (who has no connection with ARINC) |

I was talking about from the seller itself - im worried about the difference between these and ..er..official (?) versions? I didnt really follow the talk on the 1st page about how these are different from the official versions and i dont want to buy something that wont entitle me to any support if things go sour.
and yep - its the same seller. |

Good point...these are considered "used" devices from iRex's point of view.....so no warranty service. One can still get service that you pay for of course.
