I doubt that as I use Comcast and there are typically no other issues.

This time thing has me a little confused. I didn't (and don't) see anywhere to set the time on the Kindle 3. I'd always thought that they got the time from Amazon or some other time server. I also thought that since I needed to set the time on the Kindle 4, the the Kindle T and now the Kindle PW, that they only maintained their own time, withOUT connecting to a time server. If the device gets the time from the web, what's the point of having an option to set the time?

if you have same problem then set the time with date command and syncronize the hw clock to the system time with hwclock -w command

I've owned 5 Kindles since 2007, starting with the original model. I've never observed a WiFi-only model to get a time sync from anywhere. They come with a default time, and I have to set it to local time (even after waiting a day or so after registering). They never detect DST, this always has to be adjusted manually. I currently have a Voyage and current PW, and I have to manually set the time on both of them. They are registered and always connected to WiFi.
The models with a cell radio built-in, however, always have gotten the correct time from a server somewhere. |

It's VERY unlikely that the OP cares, five years after asking the question.

That's what I get for looking at only the last time/date stamp.

Oh no!!! A dead thread revived! And WE lived to tell about it!
FWIW, I have an $800 medical device that loses 10 minutes every month. So, even cost doesn't guarantee you have a good clock. Last edited by Tarana; 02-08-2018 at 11:33 PM. |
