This is a considerable improvement over the other one. It uses OS 3.5.2, which expands the available software that will run under it. And with 8MB of RAM, you are less constrained in how many books you can have on it, and more important, how many readers you can install. With MobiPocket, PalmReader, Plucker, and something like WeaselReader or PalmFiction, you'll have pretty much all the bases covered.

The big question will be getting stuff onto the device, which will require getting something like Jpilot installed under Linux to handle syncing.

Got my new Palm IIIxe, yes new. It has Palm OS 4.1 and I'm loving it, already finished one book on it. Thank you all for the help.
