Been trying to update my KT OTA since the new version of the firmware was released with no joy. Used the desktop method as recommended by Mrs_Often and it did update. Thanks!

Now if the crazy selection algorithm was improved...how many times do I have to tell it what I do not like? All I get is a stream of "romance" type novels. I've clicked 'not interested' on the SAME book 3 times now!

Kobo will never sell anything with an algorithm that pays no attention to the user.

I'm surprised you had to do that. I just had to "Not Interested" the stupid 50 Shades stuff once, and it's never popped up again.

I swear I've clicked "Not Interested" at least 50 times for Fifty Shades. It just won't listen to me. It goes away for a few days and then it returns along with all the romance novels. It also continues to recommend books I have in My Library - how hard would it be to check that?

So what's the general thoughts on this firmware update?

Is speed in page-turning faster than the previous update? Any new issues/problems?

Did the main screen layout change?

Faster than 2.0.0, but not faster than 1.9.14.

Yes, slightly, from 2.0.0 (and drastically from 1.9.14, the last good firmware version).

I am using 2.1.5. Bookmarks no longer seem to work with sideloaded books. Anyone else having this issue?

I'm using 2.1.5 on a Touch. I just tried using bookmarks on a sideloaded book and had no issues with it.

What's happening when you try to use them?

While I've been able to create bookmarks in sideloaded books, if I add a note to the bookmark it disappears after I close & reopen the book.

Huh, I tested this and the note remained. I created one bookmark, one highlighted text, then one highlighted text with a note. I exited to the home screen then powered off the Kobo. Powered back on, went in and out of a different book first (also sideloaded) before returning to the first sideloaded book. The bookmark, highlight and highlight with note were all still in the book. I could also go in and edit the note if I wanted.

Did you add a note to the bookmark? That's where I ran into problems. I've been thinking of doing a sign-out and sign-in to refresh the database. All my sideloads are in calibre anyway...

My Kobo will no longer remember my place when I recover from either sleep or powered off state. I deleted the book I was reading prior to the update and reinstalled it with Calibre. Calilbre says the book is there. Windows explorer says the book is there. It does not appear in the Kobo library after disconnecting. Interesting, it is not just the one book. Very frustrating.

It is as if the database is not being updated. Any suggestions?

Yes, I did. I did one highlight with a note and one without. I could access it by using the little pencil on the bottom left when in annotation/dictionary mode (through edit note) and using the little book icon at the bottom after a centre-screen tap.

I'm talking about just a bookmark with note, not a highlight with note. I created the bookmarks using the "press the right corner" method and then added a note using the controls in the annotations menu. After closing the book, re-opening it and going back into Annotations the bookmarks remained, but the notes for the bookmarks were gone.

I didn't know you could add a note to a bookmark. I just tried and yes, the note disappeared when I went back into the epub. I've never tried to do this before, though, so can't bear witness as to whether it worked before.
