Did anyone else who read the article think is sounded more like they were hawking the DVD and upcoming game?
Seriously, how do you have a 'wider range' of fans than the Harry Potter series? They were read by practically everyone from newborn up. Some even learned to read so they COULD read HP. And if they couldn't read they could listen and enjoy someone else reading it. Pure PR spin. |

I haven't read any of the books, but the article makes it sound like I am one of the few (I know I'm not) and should be ashamed of myself for it. Phhhbbbbttttt!

Just saw this same claim over at Gawker, but they seemed to indicate that it was only taking into account sales at Amazon.com.

Never read either, but watched a few of the HP flicks on TV.

Just a note.
You can get the first Hunger Games book for free if you are a Prime member at Amazon. I just got it. Looked at the first few paragraphs and realized why I haven't read it after all the reviews. Still I have a month before I can rent another free one, so I may still avail myself of the opportunity and plow through it. And in case you are wondering, I never could bring myself to read a whole Harry Potter book, though like a lot of people I did watch a couple. Movies seem easier to digest. |

If they felt like a bit of a larf, this sloppy, innaccurate drivel seems an decent opportunity for a bit of litigation against Amazon from JKR (who probably couldn't be bothered/care less - especially if she'd read the so-called "competition") or one of her publishers - Bloomsbury at the time.
Worth a punt, I'd have thought - quite apart from a perfectly legitimate protest against lies by implication, there could easily be enough dosh to fund another medical research facility ! Mind you, Amazon might well then try to dress it up as being philanthropic with their profits ..... ![]() |

I didn't manage to get beyond the first half of the HP series -- I found the books incredibly repetitive. I did manage to finish the Hunger Games books; they are not great, but better than HP in my opinion.
