Question Pixels ? Wot pixels .....

Look, this is ridiculous - I can't even see my pixels when they wear those little red hats with the bells on.

They play havoc with my bluebells, so I don't want 'em anywhere near my naked eye, thanks very much ................

YES, that is what I said.

"There is a law called "the inverse square law." Essentially this means that if you take an object and move it closer to you by say 1/2 as close then its size as you see it becomes 4 times larger. If you move it away, say 2 times as far, its size as you see it becomes 1/4 as large. This works for images, sounds and for radio signals."
... but I could have been more specific about the linear dimensions being twice or 1/2 the amount they were before the object was moved.

A light or a radio signal works like the size of a linear object.
1/4 as weak or 4 times as strong as the source or receiver is moved twice as far away or half as close.

I need my "wordy" nephew to proof read my wording.

Scientific papers on 6-inch displays

Anyway, I just wanted to point out that higher resolution displays had real benefits, even for those of us without SeaKing's eagle-eyes. You would be able to read those PDFs, for starters.
Try running your PDF-formatted scientific papers through k2pdfopt before sending to your reader.

That almost reads like PDFkaput. (no idea why Americans spell kaput with one "t" only, when it actually should be "kaputt").

Just tried it out, and it's not bad. For everyone else, it looks like it renders the original PDF to images stored inside a new PDF. So, links go away, and you can't search anymore, but it looks like it would be fine if all you wanted to do was linearly read the document. I tried it on the paper I uploaded before, and the equations are still there and correct, so that's an improvement over PDF reflow on the device.

Look fellow (as I pull out my handy dandy, all inclusive Franklin handheld "everything about words.")

"kaput also kaputt (adjective)"

FYI, a version of k2pdfopt w/OCR (using tesseract) is in the works so that some search capability is preserved. Output will still be graphics, but with searchable text as a hidden overlay. Main k2pdfopt forum is here.
