My RED Sony 505 is great for reading in bed!
No pages flipping from trying to hold them with my thumb and it just more comfortable on my wrist. I don't have to look for a bookmark or try to keep the book from flipping closed when I lay it down for a minute. and.. I can see the words better. |

I have severe myopia and when I read lying down before bed and when I wake up (which are my main reading times) I have to hold the book really really really close (my eyes consider anything beyond 6" to be too far). When I read DTBs I would have to lie on my side and prop the book up on my face in order to see it. I still have to hold the Cybook close but it is a heck of a lot less awkward plus the hand fatigue from trying to hold the book up in that weird position is gone.

I've always thought books were cumbersome. I've only read voraciously in spurts. I could 3-4 books a week for 2-3 weeks, then not read any at all for months -- because I'm such a baby about what a hassle books are just to keep open with the electric fan on, and turn pages, and old books make me sneeze, and I don't like the feel of rough paper, and ... you probably get my point. Ebook readers are wonderful for someone like me who enjoys reading but dislikes books. |

I never did manage to curl up with the iliad, the size got in the way for me in bed or on the couch. The Cybook is a different story. Sometimes the highlight of my day is when it all ends and I get into bed with my wife and my Cybook.
As I get tired and reach the point where I would give up with a p book I just keep making the font size bigger and bigger on the Cybook and get extra reading time in. Marvelous. I feel like going back to bed right now and I only just got up. |

I'll curl up with my PDA easier than with a real pbook. I get such tired arms, keeping the book up, then turning around in bed to read the other page, turning back, etc...

Amen to that. I'm trying to purchase or scan my pbacks to that I can reduce allergens in my home. And another thing, "before Sony-505" I read most current lit from the library and unless I was one of the first readers, these brand new books would smell like cigarettes. Especially the mysteries and detective thrillers. Harry Potter, not so much. ![]() |
