Check in the seats of your chairs and couch. I got my kids Zunes a while back. My youngest kept losing his -- usually not for long, but I was unhappy at how he was caring for it. One day it disappeared and did not show up. When Christmas rolled around again, I got him another. Many months later, he found it. He lost earbuds between the cushions of a recliner. When he fished them out, they were tangled in another set of buds which were attached to his Zune. It's my Zune now, and I like it a lot.

I got my iPod Touch 4G from Amazon. I love it. I'm not interested in having my music on my phone. The battery life is better on my iPod.

I did professional fireworks in the days when you loaded shells into the guns while flames were still coming out of them and the gun a couple feet to your side was about to fire. Wearing hearing protection meant you may not hear the safety monitor shouting to run (to avoid standing in a fresh crater) when an adjacent lift charge did not fire (but the time-delay burst fuse was probably still burning). Now I do my mp3s at 32kbps (mono) or 56kbps (joint stereo) and they sound fine to me.

I have been using my phones as MP3 players for several years. They are very handy. I download or record audio to my phones. I also use Audacity's Amplify function to increase the sound volume so that I need nothing else when listening to the phone while driving.
