Guess so. I ordered mine on 12/12 and it was delivered yesterday (1/21). Long wait, but it was really worth it. I love this thing.

I got the old Rocket eBook on 1/01 and another for my wife and bought a huge number of books until they discontinued support. Still use them for Gutenberg books when want backlight.

Then got the Sony Reader over a year ago and it is really a good device, but they left out a large number of features that the eBook had. Good ol' Amazon has included all of those missing goodies, and lots more in the Kindle, so I'm a happy camper. It works like a charm, only complaint is about the stupid huge page turn buttons that I keep hitting by mistake, but am sure will get used to them.

Here's part of an e-mail I just received from Amazon regarding estimated Kindle delivery date:
"We now have estimated delivery dates for the Kindle order you placed on 12/29/07, #XXX-XXXXXXX-XXXXXXX. We are now estimating that your Kindle will arrive between February 08 and February 15, 2008..."

Ordered Dec 21st and UPS delivered it this morning. When we could still see the shipping estimates on the web mine originally said expected receipt between 2/4 and 2/11 so this was a real improvement over what I was expecting.

Gulp, the water is cold...

My wife and I went to the pool to exercise the other evening and the water was chilly until I jumped in and got used to it. So what? Well, I just placed an order for the Kindle, mere moments ago. Being an impatient sort, I was hoping for a sign on the Amazon site that said "order now, we have millions in stock." Since that sign hasn't appeared, I've jumped into the water.

shipped!!!

I had recieved a notice a couple of weeks ago that I could expect my Kindle to be shipped sometime around the first week of Feb. Imagine my utter shock and joy when I recieved an e-mail today (1/25) that my Kindle had shipped. With two day shipping that means it should get here at the beginning of next week! For those of you that ordered after Christmas (I ordered Christmas Day) they are coming, and maybe sooner than you think.

Ordered Kindle #2 on 12/28, and it's arriving today Feb 1st. It went from "Estimated Ship date" directly to "Shipped" with not noticable "shipping soon" state.

Oh joy! I ordered on 16 January. That means my Kindle might be here by the time I get home from England. (Sure wish I had it in time to use it on those long flights, though.)

So, it sounds like the wait is getting shorter. A month and a half for some people but recently a lot of people getting it in under a month. Good news for us recent buyers.

I ordered 1/7, according to UPS it'll be here tomorrow 2/4, so just under a month. That's a bit sooner than I was expecting it, happy happy.

Yeah, they must have gotten a large shipment in.

I ordered 12/30 and got them on 1/31.

So it looks like the window is getting shorter.

Ditto. I ordered on Jan 6th and recently got notice that mine had shipped. From the online tracking, it looks like it's scheduled to be delivered on Feb 5th (even though tracking also indicates it hasn't been picked up yet).

Same thing seems to be happening with all the eInk devices - the CyBook and iLiad are also now shipping again after a long hiatus. I guess PVI (the screen manufacturer) must have shipped a large batch of new screens!
