This might or might not be an UI issue, but I wonder if something can be done about it.
I moved my Calibre Library to the Cloud, Box.net to be specific. My reasoning was that I would be able to access it even if I wasn't at home on my primary computer (I do travel a lot, and these days I just bring an Android Tablet, not my Win7 laptop). Anyhoo, connecting to the Cloud takes significant time, and I could probably live with that. However, once connected I get a lot of "Calibre not responding" because of some timing loops (this is my assumption). Is it possible to get Calibre a little more Cloud Aware (for lack of a better expression)? |

@kiwidude: At first I thought that this difference in scroll performance was something I'd talked myself into - but I compared it to the earlier release of Calibre and to the default style and the latest style seems a bit more sluggish, at least on my (slow) computer. The mouse wheel is much better, though.

@Kumabjorn: I honestly dont recall where I first came across kvetching, I just like the way it sounds
![]() As for cloud responsiveness, there isn't anything that can be done about that in calibre, short of writing a full scale networked backend, something that is on my TODO list. |

For those who want to access their books on the Internet (without an extra copy of Calibre library), calibre2opds seems like a good option. |

I infact go one further; I left my library in it's original location, then used Always Sync to replicate changes to a copy in my Dropbox folder on my PC, which in turn gets replicated by Dropbox to the cloud version. |

Windows XP - I prefer the new style, but it does make the main toolbar buttons wider. Not a problem though, as it prompted me to finally choose which ones I wanted showing.

The new changes are subtle, but I definitely like them, except for the rounded corners. Whether you make it the default or not, however, it's going to be my default.

I'd been mostly happy with the new design since applying it, but there was one thing that was bothering me: I couldn't figure out what the added value of the hover highlights was. Consider the mystery solved; until today, I'd only hovered over cells in which their contents were already wholly visible. Now I can give my unqualified thumbs up on the new interface. It's aesthetically pleasing (although, to be honest, I've always been quite satisfied with calibre's interface on this point) and it improves usability without making dramatic changes that would render the system unrecognizable.

Wow, I guess I'm one of the few OS X calibre users. I thought there'd be more. I'm not so great with it, but I do use calibre sometimes and it can be very helpful, and I like the new style better.

It is not a plugin but a separate application that generates a catalog from your Calibre database.
http://calibre2opds.com/ You will find plenty of information here on the forum, too (https://www.mobileread.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=238). |
