For novels I am very close to 100%. My academic reading is, unfortunately, still bogged down in paper for the most part, at least where my thesis is concerned.

I find it hard to go back to reading a book now. Strange I know,. But I'm sure if you did, you'd get used to reading physical books again.

i was VERY resistant to ereading and loved my 1 paper book a month habit, but 3 years ago i discovered stanza on my ipod touch and eventually progressed to kindle and my kindle fire, i now read roughly 4 books a month and loving every minute of my time with them, ive tried many times to read my paper books, but for the life of me cant get into it. whats sad is ive went back and purchased alot of my favorite paper books on kindle and have reread series that i own in paper!.

My wife on the other hand reads her James michener type books in hard bound but only at home in bed, otherwise throuought the day she only reads on her Samsung galaxy s 2 (i stick with kindle on my fire, she shares the kindle account with me but uses caliber to convert the kindle books to her alsdiko app.

One of the things she and i have both noticed is that since we went to e-book over paperbook, that we rarely watch much tv (mostly stuff we have on amazon on demand when we are on the treadmill & elliptical each day) other than that, we e-read when gardening, when waiting in line at the grocery store, at the doctors office, at lunch time at work, just about any time of the day except when driving (thats what we have audable for :P)

i think either of us would not fare well if alien space bats came and plunged the world back into the dark ages!

It is "Agony and Ecstasy" by Irving Stone; beautifully written, something you don't want to put down. I read it only once, years ago and it took my breath away. So, there it is, hard cover, I can afford it, I buy it, I drag it on the plane... and put it on the shelf. It is a size of a brick. It is paper. It is not comfortable to hold. Or carry around on the metro. And it sits there. I opened it twice only to say "well, later". It is not available as ebook (in my language at least) or I would have read it already a month ago.

What has happened to me??? I am permanently damaged or what? Would and did read paper when deprived of ereader but now... I just can't. I seem to suffer from inexplicable reluctance to printed books.

Other paper gems that are sitting there are "Memoirs of a Geisha" by Arthur Golden (read as ebook in English, would prefer in my tribal language, but you know, it's paper), then "Woman from the Dunes" (or how you translate it) by Abe Kobo, and a non-gem but paper chewing gum for the brain which happens to be Bridget Jones diary, part II. Didn't touch them with a stick yet.

Anyone?
There are a few books on my bookshelf I'm really wanting to read. But I never read them. Because I don't have the ebook. I'll probably scan them one of these days... I think I read my last paper book 4 years ago. And that was a thin juvenile fiction book.

Maybe when our lounge is done...

I don't read paper books any more. They're so retro.

I go back and forth. For public domain books, pretty much every time, I will read them in e-book format. I like to buy my science fiction books in paper at Uncle Hugos. If I can get it cheaper in paper, I will. Unless it is an old copy with yellowed pages and tiny font, that's just not worthwhile. When e-book zealots get too insufferable, I read more paper books. When the paper book zealots get too insufferable, I move back to e-books.

See the bright side of it Chi: would you put a scan-derived eBook version of them on your reader, nobody could accuse you of playing foul.
Why shouldn't one not scan own papet books?

Ha! I'm in the middle of scanning one book and my enthusiasm fizzled out sometime in March. I'm half way through it, wonder when it will be finalised... it is "only" some 400 small pages. I am so NOT scanning Agony and Ecstasy (717!) size of almost A4. I just checked. I opened it to see how many and the smell of a fresh book was... weird
