What I want more than all of these things is a larger display, so that I can read music on an e-ink display.

It does seem to me that a large-screen eInk device for musicians (foot-control turn?) is an obvious market. Perhaps not a very big market. But I'd have thought that for a professional orchestra it could make life a lot, lot easier.

There are products like that, including the foot control, for the iPad, so the market is already active.

Eh. For some people, yes. For me, no. There are three things I don't like about tablets: weight, size and battery life. With a tablet in my satchel, I cannot sprint between modes of transport with confidence, grace or anything but sheer terror about what would happen if I had to stop suddenly or make a sudden turn. I know because I've tried it. And I only carry a single charger with me - I don't want to be constantly swapping between charging a tablet and charging my phone.

Anyway, this is quickly turning into a 'I do things this way, and so should others/But I do things this way, and so should you/But I I I I I' discussion. IIRC, what my original point was supposed to be is that colour EPD screens will appeal to a lot of people. I personally know people it will appeal to. Maybe it doesn't appeal to you*, but you aren't everyone, and you can't argue everyone into buying a B&W ereader and a tablet, or whatever your* current mode of reading is (which I dare say probably isn't the same way you read things a decade ago - these things change).

* By 'you', I don't necessarily mean jocampo, just whoever's reading this.

Oh, for goodness sake. Fine, let's forget manga. All it was was the first thing that come to my mind in terms of graphic novels at the 6" size. I thought I'd read manga in colour. Maybe not. Maybe I'm getting confused. Maybe you're just missing my point.

The best way of doing things for one person, or even a whole group of people, isn't necessarily the best way for everyone. If there are other options, particularly simpler ones that mean device convergence, a lot of people will go for that. And colour EPD screens could be one of these points of device convergence. Probably not with the early tech, but I think it's quite likely.
