Sounds like utter bollocks to me, HOWEVER, Wolfie, Ducky: Wolfie could, rather, describe the usage (intent), OS or framework, and other useful info that would at least provide some material for user_none and meme to think about vis-a-vis any incompatibilities with Sigil. Granted, he mayn't be able to say, "I'm using blabbety-blab," but he could say "I'm testing a new desktop html editor that is built on X and does yadda."

Just a thought, otherwise, the statement that "Sigil crashes when I am using software I can't talk about" doesn't seem to get us much forrader, as--who knows--the crashing could have NAFT to do with Sigil, and more to do with Project X. Just a thought.

Two more abends today

Running W7-64/5.3

Both abends occurred when I clicked the the F&R "replace" button.

There is nothing in the strings to cause the problem. I always set the F&R strings in a text editor and then paste them into the appropriate Sigil text boxes. In both cases, after restarting Sigil, I re-pasted the strings and all went well.

Regards - John

John:

One of our Crew Chiefs, Barb, has had issues with Sigil crashing during F&R as well, but we have not been able to nail down the causation, nor anything repetitive. We haven't been able to replicate it, either. But I can confirm that we've had some glitchiness with this, as well. I'll try to ask my guys (and gals) to list whatever they also have running when it occurs--maybe there's some commonality there.

Hitch,

I had another abend this morning. Same situation - a long regex search string. Not complicated - just long. I was removing a text string from a bunch of useless code using (.*) all by itself.

Since I am a cut and paster, I will start saving all my failed strings and note what I was doing. Maybe I can find some sort of pattern to pass on to the "guys".

It is hard to see how it can be failing due to another application running. The only active apps that I have running when it fails are Sigil, Window Notepad and Notepad++. That seems rather benign to me - yet still fails.

But what background applications do you have running? Sometimes antivirus software can be an issue because of a false positive or an in correct answer to a past pop-up. Just because the programs running aren't foreground programs doesn't mean that background programs aren't at fault.

Also, when you installed Sigil, did you first uninstall it? I've read of Sigil not installing properly if the previous version is not first uninstalled.
