Simple, eh?

You will be needing to update post #1 with proper links (not just a search link) and telling everyone that these prices are also available at Sony & B&N.

Me too. I would have picked them all up, even the ones I'm less fond of. But at $3.99 each (with a couple of exceptions), I'll also only buy a few.

The Ehrengraf Defense is free for the next 40 hrs from Amazon

Quote:
It was in 1976 that I wrote The Ehrengraf Defense, introducing a dapper gentleman with a highly idiosyncratic approach to the practice of criminal law. My agent sent the story to Frederic Dannay, one of two cousins who constituted the writing team of Ellery Queen. Fred edited Ellery Queen’s Mystery Magazine as well, and loved the story; he saw Martin H. Ehrengraf as a lineal descendant of Randolph Mason, the creation of Melville Davisson Post. (Since I’d never heard of Post’s stories, let alone read them, I doubt he was my inspiration. Indeed, the character was entirely my idea—although I did lift a plot element from Fletcher Flora.)

Fred wanted more Ehrengraf stories, and over time I wrote a total of ten of them. Most of them made their first appearance in EQMM, and proved popular with readers—and especially with members of the legal profession. Make of that what you will.

'The Ehrengraf Presumption' is free on Amazon US today. As Harry T noted up-thread, this one is also included in the short story collection 'Enough Rope'.

The Ehrengraf Presumption

“The Ehrengraf Presumption. Any client of Martin H. Ehrengraf is presumed by Ehrengraf to be innocent, which presumption is invariably confirmed in due course, the preconceptions of the client himself notwithstanding.”

Words to live by…

I suggest that you download the free sample using the Kindle App and see for yourself. If the book is in KF8 format, then so will be the free sample.

Something a little 'different' from the Lawrence Block backlist...
[Free on Amazon US]

Different Strokes: How I (Gulp!) Wrote, Directed, and Starred in an X-rated Movie (John Warren Wells on Sexual Behavior)

In the early 1970s, with Deep Throat and The Devil in Miss Jones rewriting film history, John Warren Wells hired on to write the script for a high-quality pornographic movie. Originally published by Dell, Different Strokes includes the remarkable script he delivered, the production diary he kept, an interview with the film's leading lady—and a 2012 afterword that puts it all into uncanny perspective. You'd better read the book; you'll probably never get to see the movie!
