I know how to convert from Fahrenheit to Celsius, thank you very much. Knowing it's 45C still doesn't tell me whether it's just slightly uncomfortable to the touch or too hot to handle.

Why is it unrelated? The issue here is that the body of the iPad supposedly gets too hot (right now, max I've seen reported is 116F or 46.7C). Doesn't matter if it's due to the extra GPU use or new battery or whatever. Tech sites are harping on and on about the iPad. That's just sensationalism. If they want to be fair, they'd test other tablets (not just the iPad 2) under similar conditions and report what temperatures they get from the other tablets.

Mine's fine. My phone gets much hotter when I'm using a GPS navigator.

Mind you, I mostly browse or read with the screen brightness somewhere below 50%.

If you want a powerful GPU and good battery-life within a small form-factor sans fan, the device is going to get warm.
