I just think all that "must be the first to have the latest gadget - even if it is for an hour or so" just so sad, even pathetic.

One chap said he'd waited/sat/camped in line for a couple of days.....

what makes me lol is that these early adopters pretty much pay for the right to be guinea pigs. then they have the gall to complain when problems are found. there's already reports of the ipad 3 getting way too hot, they'd have known that had they waited 2 days to buy it.

the xbox 360 pretty much proved the futility of being an early adopter to me. that red ring of death sure was loads of fun, huh?

no disrespect to that fella but if he has days to camp out for an annually released toy, he leads an empty, meaningless existence.

claiming shortages/backlogs is a common business tactic used in order to build a frenzy of demand. i thought it was pretty common knowledge that companies do this.

No there aren't.
There are reports of it being slightly hotter than the iPad 2, but not 'way too hot'.
[Edit: measured as (after an intense workout) being 10 deg F hotter, at 92.5F]

I still haven't noticed any increased heat, although my usage is not CPU or GPU intensive.

I don't have any complaints. My iPad runs perfectly fine. Not hot at all.

I am happy with the ipad 2 screen. I read on a kindle. Its the weight that bothers me. Wish it was lighter.

I think that we get a little to hasty to decide what other people should do with their time. It's his time, let him do what he will. It is rather annoying to watch you slam this guy and you don't even know him. Just because YOU wouldn't do it doesn't mean that this guy has no life.

There are tons of people who wait in line for days/weeks on end for tons of different things. It's their right. Stop being derisive simply because it's not your thing.

And, the moment someone starts a comment with the phrase "No disrespect"...someone is about to get disrespected.

Same here (used it for 6 hours straight). Then again, I don't game on it and I don't think reading comics is particularly processor intensive.

These aren't record sales, the demand wasn't off the charts.

Apple didn't release iPad2 initial sales figures, so where is the 1 million number from?
And, just possibly, do you think that day 1 sales would be higher than days 2 and 3?

Amen to that. There are many, many people who've attained perfection in their own lives (uh huh) that they feel compelled to "help" others who clearly need assistance. If everyone adhered to MYOB, we would be better off.
