Does a graphic scale when the user changes the font size? The symbol is used as an ornament at the start of every scene as the first character of a paragraph. If the size of the font is changed, the symbol has to change in the same proportion.
Yes, you can scale images using relative sizing (something like "width:2em;") in your CSS for the image.

I also have no clue about using svg images. Is there a comprehensive tutorial somewhere?
You can use .svg images just like any other supported image type.

Btw. Where's a good source for free fonts ?
dafont has a great selection of Creative Commons/OS fonts (that may be used with attribution), which are free and/or affordable; ditto Fontsquirrel.

OK, infinity problem solved.

I used CharsSIL as the font and it supports the infinity symbol.

@JSWolf
I know that Charis, DejaVu and other complete Unicode fonts have an infinity symbol. I wanted a different style of symbol, hence the embedding travail. Thanks for the notepad++/Charis tip. The Only reason I use Windows at all these days is OCR software and Notepad++. (Well that and ADE on a old netbook to deal with DRM.) Alas Notepad++ is somewhat flaky under Wine.

Font Squirrel appears to the goto place for freely usable fonts both personal and commercial. I spent far too much time chasing down old bookmarks for font sources and found Smashing Magazine an interesting source of fonts. typOasis is also a good source of fonts including the fonts of Manfred Klein and Dieter Steffman.
