Mind you, I am not looking for one yet -- my 500 is only 6 months old...

Given that the Kindle, Sony, and Gen3 are ALL back-ordered, and all use the same screen, it's probable that the issue is the manufacturing capability of the screen makers, eInk.

The screen maker is PVI in this case, in Taiwan. The short supply of screen is a real problem...
