I will only scan and convert 1 book, this is how far my patience for a mundane task goes. But I adore that book and want to have with me always. (out of print and unavailable even on paper any more)

That is ADORABLE. I love ferrets. Don't have any, but think they're the cutest little things. We baby-sat one for a week and the cats never got less scared of it.

Friends of mine have Ferrets. They are so cute and lovable. (I am secure in my maleness so I can say this)

I would have some as pets. Unfortunately my wife disagrees.

I just could not contemplate spending the time scanning all my p-books! Way too many and I can't see the point. I downloaded ebooks of classics and other out of copyright books and got rid of a lot of the tatty old paperbacks I'd owned for many years, but I like the bookshelves with all the books (some of which are quite old). These days I try to find textbooks in electronic format to save hauling them around and also taking up space which I would rather use for my more valued older books, but that is more a choice of what I want to keep around as part of my living space.

The ferrets are cute, but I would worry about them getting loose here in Australia. We have enough feral cats, rabbits, foxes, camels, dogs, goats and other introduced species causing havoc, ferrets would decimate the smaller marsupials.

(It's my understanding that most of the domesticated ferrets can't survive in the wild, but I could be wrong.)

Space (a significant lack thereof) dictates that new book purchases must be in electronic form. I'm freeing-up some space by scanning certain existing pbooks to electronic form, usually purchasing 2nd-hand copies to fill the gaps in various series/authors, e.g., Dorothy Sayers, Hammond Innes, R A Freeman. It's a bit of a nerdy thing, but I enjoy the process of discovering how best to run the conversion process. My abilities with css are improving; one day I may even learn a little more regex.

Ferrets, kittens, horses etc., are nice. The Blue one, next to the fish is better.

Absolutely not, I get books to read them and I care less about the format than reading them. Not worth the work.

Unfortunately domesticated animals have a very good track record of not only surviving but doing very well in this mild climate! Obviously humans aren't the only ones who like a climate similar to Southern California

I was getting this way - and I still have about 6-7 bookshelves - perhaps they breed like.....ferrets!
