Yes, I travel a lot with work, and consequently spend a lot of time in hotels, and typically put a couple of thousand pounds a month through my Amazon MasterCard in business expenses. It gets me a £10 token pretty much every month, which is nice to have!

Outside of school I generally don't pay full price for books. I try to keep it under $5. Anymore, on higher priced books, I just snag from the library.

I haven't bought any e-books over $10. I'd rather buy a nice hardcover if I like the book enough to spend that much on it.
I don't buy new books from unknown authors blind though except at used prices. Never really have. I don't buy DRM'd books though unless I really need them (books for class when I still had history classes). My dilemma is with paperbacks - my blind buys. I used to buy a lot of used paperbacks for a couple of bucks each - but now I prefer ebooks. Yet apparently they want $7-$10 for these types of backlist ebooks (which I won't pay) - plus they have DRM - so I now I don't know what to do. With a couple of them, the author had his books on Smashwords, so I bought them there for $5 & $2.50 rather than buy the hardcovers at my local used book store (I liked the series enough to read...but not enough to buy in hardcover). If I had this option more, I'd buy more ebooks. The Agency Six is deluded and missing out on a lot of money. I'm not going to pay pay $10 for an ebook original published years ago that you can get for $3-$4 shipped on the Amazon market or $2-$3 at my local used bookstore. I like ebooks but not at a 200% or 300% price premium. Hell most of the time I can get a paperback or a hardcover shipped to my doorstep for cheaper than the ebook. If I could get backlist books for $3-$4 (even eventually...like how DVDs drop in price over time) it'd probably be a no-brainer for me - but $8-$10? No way. Especially not with DRM - I hate supporting DRM. I buy almost nothing at the current prices, minus the occasional deal or a DRM-free version on Smashwords. I have paid over 9.99 for a few e-books, but not recently. Most of my e-books are 5.99 or below. Lately I have stopped buying e-books, and focus on reading the ones I already have bought. After all, I bought/ downloaded them since they sounded interesting.

I've never bought an ebook costing $9.99 or higher bar one review manual ($85). The print version was considerably cheaper but in this case, the instant access and convenience of having a PDF version on my iPad was worth more to me.
All my fiction books cost $7 or below. Since agency pricing was implemented, I've also found myself buying less of those books unless there's a promo. |

I have a basic Kobo that came with 100 free ebooks. Since I'm a sucker for "free", most of the 600+ books that currently are in my Kobo were free. I've paid less than $100 for all the "bought" books; the majority of them cost a buck or two. Onlyy six have cost me more than $5, none more than $10.

I pay for good ebooks, if they are DRM free, but would never pay $10. I hesitate to pay $5!

I have never purchased any e-book over $10, and don't see myself ever doing so. Snagging freebies and paying regular visits to my online public library is more than enough to feed my literary appetite.

Wooaav, I'm impressed. Kudos for your principal standing on DRM, I feel soo stoopid for buying from Amazon at agency pricing with the added $1.50 surcharge for overseas delivery. I wish I could be as smart as the rest of you when purchasing, I suppose I'm just too lazy.

Zero book above $10 for me.
About a handful between $5-10. Some free or less than $1. (I have downloaded lots of freebies and later deleted them because they were crap, so now I don't hunt much for them any more.) The vast majority of book I read are library books. |

For me, it's easier to list the ones that exceed $6.99: 5 in the last three years. (A couple of eARCs and two James Andrus mysteries.)
Versus 36 webscriptions (6 books-per) and 6 special Baen intro bundles; 18 Hyperion classic SF compilations at Amazon ($0.99 to $1.99). A couple hundred freebies (mostly for my mother) and a few dozen $2.99 to 6.99 scattered titles at Amazon and Fictionwise. I can safely say 98% of my purchases over the past three years have been sub-$7. I don't much discriminate on pricing per se, but boycotting all Price-Fix Six content simplifies the decision process.
