If you modify the bezel, you could very well invalidate the warranty. Do you want to risk having no warranty?

You could skip out on the expensive skin from whereever and use electrical tape at a fraction of the cost. a roll of electrical tape costs less than $5. The only downside is that you'll have to replace it about every six months, but if you have an entire roll of tape, it's just the five minutes or so of time it takes to replace it. I'd also recommend a pair of scissors for the job to get a good edge.
