The reset point for the 600 is on the bottom plate - use the removable 'pen' that's in the side and push the plastic point in the hole, then re-start the Reader ... then see what happens. (If you unscrew the plastic tip from the 'pen', the opposite end of it is the official resetting tip!).

Not disagreeing as you have obviously seen far more ereaders than I but, out of curiosity, have you ever just erased the Mac system files (.) and got everything working or is the repair a result of a reformat/complete clean of all files including the Mac ones?

I'm not saying that every Mac user will encounter the same problem, I'm basing my answer on 14 months worth of returned devices from all over the UK and Europe. At the end of the day, it's your choice.

Yes I have tried just removing the Mac files with mixed results. The files are embedded in almost every folder within the Reader's structure so it takes time to remove (not really an issue) and test after each instance, as a result I've found it's easier and quicker to just copy to a new desktop folder, format and re-install minus the Mac's. I've also encountered 'inbred' corruption between installed folders which has ended up putting the problem back onto the Reader ... so the folders are re-installed one at a time with verification of correct operation after each transfer; if the problem occurs after your last transfer simply break the folders down until you find the responsible file(s). Sounds a little long-winded but the most guaranteed way to restore normal operation.

Hope that helps?
