More this year. Much more

Nothing to do with ereaders but TV. My wife and I have been up and down on TV for years. We ended up with a huge TV with loads of channels then had a row over it. She said we watched too much TV and I got angry because she is correct and it was mostly my fault.

We ended up chucking the blasted thing about a year ago. No TV in the house at all. It has been wonderful. Lots more time to read

I'm reading a lot more this year than last. This is mostly because I bought my first ereader in March. Prior to that I'd read a few things on the Kindle app of my iPod touch, but having an eink device that fits in my pocket makes it so easy to read all the time now. Plus being able to get books for free, essentially, through Project Gutenberg or the library, means I have tons of books on my Nook to read all the time. I'm no longer reading one paper book at a time but shuffling through several books at once which helps keep me focused and not lose interest in reading.

I didn't read at all for a couple of months during the summer. I had a similar period in 2010 where I didn't read anything, so I'm within 5 books of having read the same amount. Next year I'm aiming for 50 books, or ~ 1 per week. I think that's as many as I'll be able to read since I work a lot and I'm out of the house a lot.

I didn't keep track in 2010, so I don't really know. I did keep track in 2009, and I read more this year than I did then. I'm going to speculate that 2010 was somewhere between 2009 and 2011, so I did better this year.

I could spend time analyzing Calibre and figuring out which of the books I read were 2009 and which were 2011 and figure the rest were 2010, but I'm not interested in putting in the work.

My mistake for 2010 was thinking I could use Goodreads to catalog my reading and not keeping a back up list -- I ended up only putting in a half dozen books to Goodreads, if that many, so that year is lost to me.

Annoyingly, mine went through a bit of a mid-year slump, and so I've read less than 50 books this year. Really must do better in 2012!

How do you keep count of how many books you have read?

If you read them on an eReader - say a Kindle for example, you could move them into a "Finished" collection. That way, all the books you've read would be in there.

Other than that, you could do what my friend does - she has a list on her tumblr stream of all the books she's read, which link to mini-reviews of each book.

Or just make a note on a piece of paper

There are some social media type sites that let you keep count of books as well. I use Goodreads.com. This isn't for everyone, but I love to keep my book reviews all in one place, see what others are reading and how our ratings compare, and compare my reading stats from year to year.

I use Goodreads.com as well. I made shelves called Read-2010, Read-2011, and Read-2012 (obviously nothing on that one yet ).

I keep track on goodreads and on Delicious Library on my iMac. In Delicious Library, I also keep track of where I got the book, the price, the format, and other info.

I've read about 15%, with 20% being likely by the end of the year, ahead of what I read last year.

That is mainly because of job related circumstances. [ie, I've had more time]

I read a lot more this year. Partly that's due to getting my Kindle, but mostly it's because I quit WoW back in March.

While I too have an account at Goodreads, my primary method of tracking my reading it a text file on my computer desktop called "Books Read.txt".
