Well, yes, so it is very immoral to have blocked popup windows in browser, because of skipping of a lot of adv banners in popup format.....

@jozicka while I'm in agreement with you on the general issue, I think that's a bit a of a false analogy. My web browser nor internet are subsidized by ads, indeed, my cable TV isn't even subsidized by ads. What people have forgotten is that originally the only point in paying for cable (or Sirus radio for that matter) is because it came Ad FREE. Ads being put on to these paid for services was just the cable company being greedy. Now I'm not arguing to steal cable here, I'm just saying that comparing skipping ads on TV or blocking ads on the internet or some other free service is a false analogy.
At the same time trying to tell me that Amazon only get's its $30 dollars back if I keep the ads on it the entire life of the kindle is equally asinine. It's not a subscription service. I am not getting a perpetual price discount on a monthly or yearly service fee. It's a one time charge for a piece of hardware. That's why Amazon doesn't care about these threads (and why they don't get shut down) the fact that we see the ads at all pays for the price break in the hardware. Most importantly here, if you actually bothered to read the terms and conditions when purchasing a kindle with special offers, there is no wording in there that I am not allowed to disable the offers. In fact, the only special addendum Amazon makes is directed at the purchasing of special offers. Moreover, Kindle releases it's source code and I quote "In accordance with certain free and open source software licenses" that means by law I'm allowed to modify my kindle however I see fit. That's the definition of keeping it moral! :P @demonseye Getting back on topic, those are his very detailed explinations on how it all worked (which is a fun read if you want to read it ![]() |

I think this forum is a more technical than moral oriented. Everyone can make own decision about this.

downloading ads but not displaying them would be also some compromise..
for now - they don't bother me at all - actually they make one thing easier (on Kindle Touch) - tapping on an ad at the bottom of the screen turns WIFI automatically ![]() ![]() |

Any way to download the Dead Author screensavers?
Hey just got new KSO 3G for Christmas and love the dead authors screensavers! Is there anyway I can download them to the PC? I also like the ads and just would love it if amazon mixed in ads with the dead authors screen savers!
