I've read a few volumes of Battle Royale on my PRS-650 and it was fine. I guess it might depend on the size of lettering being used, but for that manga, it was perfectly readable.

Plus, mangas are compressed collections of image files. So you can always process them and decrease the margins, which should help enough.

Adding my voice to the chorus. I tried to read manga on my 6" Kindle, and it gave me eyestrain. Now I read manga on my 10.1" Asus transformer, and it's adequate. Wish it were bigger, though. Also, when you compare the 10.1" inch tablets with 9.7" inch e-ink ereaders, the LCD tablets are often comparable in price or even cheaper.

I think it is a resolution issue, unfortunately, especially when you're reading in Japanese. Or a scan quality issue.
