No More $99 Kindles? - Page 3

Correct me if I am wrong folks but I believe that this means that demand is out stripping the supply. Means that amazon needs to make more of them to meet demand, it will most likely be a little wait until amazon can figure out how to get the supply up to meet the demand.

I think the demand for the K3 is probably due to being out a year alot of people probably saw them during the year and thought I want one for Christmas or I am going to get that for so and so for Christmas.
Next Christmas the newer Kindles will probably be just as hot as the K3 is this year.

The K3 was hot enough last year that they had problems meeting demand outside the US. I have a sneaking suspicion that the K4 is outselling the K3 this year but because Amazon is only selling in the US we are not seeing the problems that we saw last year with the K3 deliveries.

They also had trouble keeping the K3 in-stock in B&M stores last year. That hasn't been the case this year. I remember because I had to visit multiple Staples & Targets & Best Buys before I finally found one. Oddly I know more people buying ereaders as gifts this year especially for younger kids (ages 7-9).

Would anyone really want a KK knowing you might not be able to upgrade it to handle the forthcoming KF8 format?

They are finally getting cheap enough that I can see parents being ok with getting a younger kid one. Toss in the fact that kids are probably more use to high tech toys and gizmos today then they were 20 years ago and I don't see it as a problem. How many kids play games on their parents smart phones, laptops, net books, and tablets?

I didn't mean it was odd to buy ereaders for kids. I meant that it's odd that they are in more demand to purchase with people I know but supply is greater. For years I haven't been able to interest anyone in ereaders. Must be the price-point that makes the difference. I've been sending everyone links to our library which has a huge selection of kids books. I've also been the sample tester with my ereaders to see how certain books look before they buy.

Either it will support the format or Amazon will have to continue providing ebooks in the format it can handle. So what's the issue?

The issue is that he hates Amazon and will do whatever he can to slam the Kindle and Amazon whenever he can.

You learn to ignore him pretty fast if you are a Kindle user.

I love my KK and glad I have 2 of them. I like them better than other readers I have used.
(Also glad I don't have to choose between the K4 & the Touch. They both look good!)

I'm very happy with my KK. I never heard of KF8 before this thread, but honestly don't think it would make me any difference. I have nothing against comic books; sequential art can be pretty awesome. But my tastes in entertainment run to text.

The WiFi-only Kindle Keyboard has been removed from the banner (all the Kindles) that appears at the top of the Kindle pages. It was there before without the price underneath it. Now it's gone.
