Has anyone beside me noticed how hypersensitive Apple folks are.

Most when they have a product with a problem, complain a lot about it and tell stories about how they suffered. Apple people seem to need to find excuses or point fingers or be very quiet.

You seem to think that people are picking on Apple more than Android, but this was in the article that you linked to as well, but I haven't seen people making a big deal of of it either:
Quote:
The problem comes as Apple rushes to fix a bug in its new operating system iOS 5.

Users complain that iPhone batteries are running down too quickly.
Since both no volume and no battery would make a phone useless the two cases seem on the level, but exploding devices make for more interesting stories so I don't see why it would come as a surprise that it receives more attention.

If I have a battery explode, I'll be sure to complain a lot and tell stories of how I've suffered.

No, they won't be banned. You'll just have to put it in a special plastic bag. For your own safety, of course.

Maybe because "Apple people" are constantly bashed on MR? If you keep hitting a dog, it will start to shy away when it sees a newspaper.

That is not really what is happening isn't it? There is some bashing both ways, but is usually very mild.

It is very simple. Turn everything around. Have Apple users talk about the problem with Apple's products and platforms, and Android users talk about their problems. I myself could go on all day. While Android users tend to be very open about it, from Apple users you barely hear anything. Not that there are no problems (we have several Apple devices at home, I know personally and could also list many, many), it is that such matters are not being seen as problems or are easily forgiven. Apple users have accepted the shortcomings, while Android users demand improvements.

No, it is what's happening. Here is a random selection from the past 6 months or so.

The issue isn't that people don't like Apple the company or Apple products - I don't have a Mac, for example, and my signature is not complimentary to Apple, as far as that goes. Discussion about products is a very good thing.

The issue is that people are insulting Apple *users,* specifically. I think that crosses a line and should be stopped. (And of course this applies to insults to all users).

Talking about problems with devices is fine, as I mentioned above. It's insulting users that is bad. (And it hasn't been my experience that Apple users ignore problems - there are complaints on the Apple subforum right now, for example. And plenty of Apple users have complained about recent battery issues with i0S 5. All of that is pretty ancillary to MR, of course - I have an iPad, but I rarely read on it, since my Kindle is so much better for that in most cases. Which I suppose is a kind of complaint.).

Well, you *could*, but instead, you go on all day about Apple, especially in threads that aren't about Apple:
Here's a thread about the Samsung 10.1" Tab:

Quote:
Let us hope the device makers get the message and don't blindly follow the Almighty Steve's ideas (and he only excludes and SD slot because he doesn't want you to sideload) just to get good reviews from some Apple-centric bloggers.
Here is one about Adobe's stock:
https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...43&postcount=4
Quote:
Looks like Steve Job finished his vendetta against Adobe from the grave. And mobile device users are the losers.
It is sad how we users of non Apple devices have to pay the price for so many of Apple's decisions (no exchangeable batteries, no ports, no expansion slots, to name just a few). Let us hope that this will change now that Steve's gone.
Here is one about how important Android is to Google:
https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...09&postcount=5
Quote:
You got things mixed up, that was the rule for users of the fruity OS: "every problem is a feature, you are just doing it wrong!".
Here is one about Google buying Motorola:

Quote:
But what are you worried about --- aren't the fruity ones always first at everything?
And one about the HP Touchpad:

Though I am the first to admit that Apple invented the latest marketing methods, paying off bloggers, etc.

If this were a good analogy, Apple users would shy away and not post on threads where a non-user mentions Apple. What we see here is the opposite.

No, they don't. The ones who really hate Apple are insulting everyone who disagrees with them (i.e. doesn't express hatred towards Apple).

Actually I know a few posters I met in the Apple forum left because of what they didn't feel welcome on MR. They didn't just shy away, they just went away.

Maybe they should stop saying it about Apple users because insulting users on MR isn't appropriate, regardless.

Whoa there. No need to get all personal here.

Lots of non-Apple users have difficulties understanding why those who love their Apple products love their Apple products. I'm one of them. My 18 months old laptop has the same hardware in it that today's MacBooks do, but had a lower price tag when it was purchased. Naturally, I have difficulties understanding why anyone in their right mind pays more money for weaker hardware, and when they can't give me good reason for it I point and laugh.

I also find it odd that these people are surprised that they're occasionally mocked for not being able to justify their purchase decision other than by telling me "it's an Apple,so it's better".

But the most odd thing of all is when people who are smart, well informed, and who bought an Apple product after thinking it through and coming to the conclusion that it's the best product for them, lose all their smarts and react like unthinking iSheep when someone asks them to recap their thoughts on why they bought a Mac. It's almost as if asking them to prove that they're not among the KoolAid chuggers turns them into one. Very odd.
