My local Currys said they'd have them in this week. But they haven't, now they're saying 2 weeks time. So I've ordered online from Sony, should arrive in 2 or 3 days

I wanted at least to see one in the flesh and hopefully play with one to compare it to my PRS300. I couldn't find one any where within 40 miles who actually had any. With something like this I do like to be able to take it back to the shop if there is a problem.

If it was bought online from Sony it would probably be okay if there was a problem to send it back but I have heard not so good things about Play.com customer services and Comet haven't got that good reputation either.

I know I am being a bit negative but I have regular problems dealing with customer services by phone and online these days.

I managed to buy one from play before they removed the offer. I emailed them last week to see when it would arrive and got an email back quickly. today I got an email from them saying it has been shipped today. It is a pity they don't have offer any more as i need to order another one now.

It seems insane that they are now charging £30 more than Sony, Currys etc. So much for them being an online discount store

Ideally I too would have liked to try one before I bought. But I did order via my nearest (35 miles and 2 bus trips away) Sony Centre. In the event of real problems I can always bite the bullet, take the bus, and give it back to them

I never have had problems generally buying things from Play.com but I had heard of a couple of instances where people were having trouble returning defective things to them.

They are not seling PRS-t1 at all, its a trdader now offering it for 164 Gbr.
Play is similar to Amazon, traders also can sell goods.
I did'nt had either any trouble before with Play. But mine is still not dispatched.
Will ask them today whats going on.

Haven't Play.com been sold recently to a new owner? Perhaps there has been a change of policy but they don't seem as reliable on the sales side as they used to be.

its interesting to note that play is owned by ratukan who recently bought kobo. i wonder if they are preparing to sell kobo readers?
