I would beg George R R Martin to tell us the end of "A Song of Ice and Fire"!

good call! Or, change the OP's scenario: to save the world, George R. R. Martin must write the conclusion to "A Song of Ice and Fire" in the form of a short story, taking no longer than 30 days to finish.

Spoiler:
We're doomed.

Does the Kindle Users Guide count?

Probably One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish or Hop on Pop.

I'd read some nice story with lovable characters and a happy ending.

ROTFL! I gave up on Martin after the 3rd book.

Hmmmm...I love me some post apocalypse tales. The Brief History of the Dead by Kevin Brockmeier would be apropros but I really think I'd probably read some Grimm's.

/I know I'd be spending time with the fam instead of reading anything, though.

If I can read just one book to save the world, I'm pretty sure it's going to be a horribly long one. I think The Two Towers would be the book. Not that I enjoy it, but if I have to be a superhero, I have to sacrifice something.

I hope it's the Faraway Tree series by Enid Blyton though. Lol, more than 15 years and I still love it.

I'd read the "Little Critter" book I helped my 4-year-old read last night - "Little Critter: To The Rescue!" In it, he saves the day by calling 9-1-1. Seems like it'd be an easy way to save the day.

I think I'd read Ecclesiastes. It's the perfect, "Life is short and hard and then we die" sort of book.
