Mistaken Identity - Page 3

This thread has popped up before, and I think it happens a lot.
At least 3 times to me in the last 2 months. I Always make a point of telling the accusers that no, it isn't, and mine is much better .....
Sweeping, I know, but someone has to counter the TV ad monopoly by Amazon.
( I wish the other manufacturers had at least have a presence as far as publicity goes. )
The trouble is Amazon can cross-fund these enormously expensive ad campaigns thanks to their vast sales elsewhere.
They are succeeding, sadly, in making ereader = kindle, thanks to this big push.

But that's capitalism, folks.........

I just say "no", and don't find it necessary to elaborate; unless I feel like having a discussion. But then there are usually better things to discuss, like "Do you think it'll rain?"

I used to get asked that a lot. Now I get asked if it's a nook quite often.

It's a Sony.

Hey, that's good, people in France now identify an e-reader for what it is, that's a start.

I confess that a short year and a half ago, April 2010, I was in the US. From Canada, I had never seen a Kindle or an iPad in person. A lady in my hotel was reading in the lobby, and I asked if that was an iPad. No - it was a Kindle but huge, a DX (still don't have those in Canada AFAIK). She was eager to show me she was reading her local hometown morning newspaper and I am sorry to say I was disappointed it wasn't an iPad and that I didn't show more enthusiasm. I am now on my second Kobo (orig then WiFi), and got my husband and son Kobo Touches, and know so much about eReaders that all my friends ask me for advice. (I also had an iPad, now an iPad 2, and an iPhone; just got the Kobo Vox. So I'm kind of a technology addict and am sorry I kind of brushed the excited Kindle lady off.)
