I can only compare the ones we have (kindles and sonys) but yesterday I was showing them to friends who want to buy an ereader and we did look at them inside the house and outside where it is really very sunny these days. My k4 display is very similar to our k3. Both have a better contrast than my T1, which has pretty much the same greyer background as the 650. The kindles background are whiter, and the fonts seem much darker and better defined. |

For the moment I have 4, count 'em, 4 e-readers in front of me. My borked Kindle 3 that I haven't sent in yet (the problem's not with the screen), the replacement Kindle Keyboard that just arrived, my T1, and my wife's T1. The Kindle Keyboard's black is a touch darker than everybody else's, and the whites rank like this: Whites: [dark] K3 --> My T1 --> Wife's T1 --> KK [light] The Kindle Keyboard does seem to just have a better screen than the others, including the less-than-a-year-old Kindle 3 that should theoretically be its clone. I don't know if the K3's being a few months older is a factor or not. The two T1s are close enough that I wouldn't have noticed a difference if I didn't have them side by side, and subjectively they both look good. |

I bought a lot of x50s in the past few months. I'm the owner of 2 950s, and I had a pink and a silver 350 (both are gone now, I gave as gifts). I found that screen lightness varies a lot even over the same models. The pink 350 had a lighter screen--but it had significantly more ghosting than the silver 350. One of my 950s has slightly more ghosting than the other, I think, but both are relatively similar.. The 350s however were like night and day.
