I have carried a bag for years. My current one is a black leather Tumi. I will always have either my IPad or kindle in it as well as an iPod, utility knife, wallet, torch and such like. Great place for a phone and of course keys. I got over the man bag thing and now call it my handbag. I frankly don't care what people think.
The great thing of course is I now have literally hundreds of books with me at all times. I do read much more than I used to in the "old days" of pbooks. Why not? It is much easier now. |

I think women will continue to read more. I know buying a reader has resulted in my reading more. The ability to easily juggle multple books, and ease of impulse book purchase encourages short reading sessions snuck into my day. FWIW the small size means I spend more time in forums as well, especially during TV veg time, there are so many commercials! I don't put mine in a suitcoat pocket. Color NK is to large and heavy, I suppose dedicated ereader is easier. Still kind of lumpy I would think.

Both my PRS-505 and PRS650 fit in the back pocket of all of my pants, with cover. So plenty of ways to carry a reader around.

Hmm, well, I am 6'2", ~200lb, fairly good shape, I think I wear 34 to 36 waist Levi's. Would pocket size be that much different to a 32 waist?

![]() I can't imagine doing it anyway, it would get broken. Certainly wouldn't try it without a cover.... Last edited by kennyc; 10-31-2011 at 10:21 AM. |

Carrying a Kindle or any such device in any pants pocket is a death sentience for that device, sooner or later!

My first thought was whether or not women read more than men or buy more books than men. My wife bought a lot more shoes than I did but I rarely went out without shoes. Our closet space was 90% hers and 10% his but I never went out naked.
Second, I have always been a reader and the two impediments to reading were having to work for a living and my wife. Once I was single and retired, bingo, I read a lot more. I do have fond memories of being engrossed in a book and realizing my wife was looming over me. "Aren't you planning on doing anything this weekend?" "I am doing something. Something I enjoy. I'm reading a book. What did you have in mind?" "Would you rather go to the mall, shopping?" Yeh, right, but to be honest I'd usually end up sitting on a very uncomfortabe bench in the mall reading my book. When I get on a plane and check out the other passengers the non-readers seem to be male and female. I think airlines should give these poor people drugs so they can just drift away for the duration of the flight. The way to solve the population problem is to have public schools teach sex the way they teach reading. By the time kids reached puberty they wouldn't want to do it. |
