![]() What led me to believe that no harm was meant is that Nate linked to his blog post. He must have sincerely believed that it was not offensive. Offensive is in the eye of the beholder and some of us are more sensitive than others. As to whether or not an apology is in order, I would say it is only because the OP was unhappy. In the future, a better course of action would be to ask people permission to use their posts. Even though it's not legally necessary, it would be the courteous thing to do. This thread also contains avatar usage hostility. I don't know if the avatar in question was an image created by the individual using it, or if he just staked claim to it. Either way, it didn't belong on this thread and added to the overall bad vibes I was referring to. |

Hello mates.
Im working at a airport at the moment so that means my kindle goes through the xray scanner 5 days a week once. so my kindle keyboard went through the xray more than 100 times this year. no harm was done yet so i can ease any fears. got a malweare flip cover so physical damage is not a problem either. have a nice flight ![]() |

You just need a good protective case.
My Kindle 3 lives in a Saddleback Leather medium gadget pouch. It's survived overseas trips from Australia to Bali, Vietnam, US. It's been chuck under plane seats in a bag, dragged around on trains, buses, in the basket of bicycles, on motorcycles. No problems what so ever. Just be a bit careful like you would with any other electronic gadget. I can't see an airport scanner being any rougher than what mine's been through and yes, perhaps take it out and put in a tray like you would your notebook. ![]() |

hey, I'm back
![]() I must admit it was great to have 3G in non wifi environment especially during havoc caused by cancelled flights after the boeing landed on its belly in Warsaw. I could check the updates on the painfully slow Kindle internet - but still. When they finally opened the airport and I could fly we were turned back to point of origin due to thick fog. What I didn't know the flight I missed as result of fog also had emergency landing due to cracked window in the cockpit. I must say I'm done with flying for a while. While away I was able to replace the dead netronix which now I intend to sell and get rid of. All in all, thank God I arrived home, uff ![]() Edit: and out of 6 books I saved for the trip I read 5 in 7 days Last edited by Chi Cygni; 11-04-2011 at 04:51 PM. |

I don't know anyone who really enjoys flying. But it's nice when it stops!

Just saying, I'd be pretty pissed off is someone took my post from here or where ever else and posted it on their blog without asking my permission. It may be a public forum, but my words are mine, and are not out there for someone else to take and post on their blog. Very rude!
Glad to hear, though, that the OP made it through with Kindle intact. Esp. being stuck in Warsaw, which is very much not a place I'd like to be stuck, though perhaps thats because most of my experience being stuck in Warsaw has been in the train station, and that was in the 90's....perhaps it's better now. Anyway, I always just leave my kindle or my nook color in the padded part of my bag. They seem to be fine, and honestly, I've often completely forgotten to turn them off even during take off and landing (on my last flight I realized I forgot to turn off the Nook color AND my phone). |

I've just had my 650 go through a scanner three times in the past two weeks and no problems at all.

Never had any problem with mine - and it's been round the world a few times.
It's protected only by the "standard" leather cover - which seems to be doing its job thus far. |

Thank you
![]() And by the way, I did not get stuck in Warsaw. It was a nervous return trip though - on 1st and 2nd Nov airport in Warsaw was closed and only late in the evening on 2nd I saw on tv I could fly on the 3rd as was scheduled on my ticket. I flew to Warsaw but circled above and the captain announced we were going back to where we started from due to thick fog. So I never landed in Warsaw in the end, had to get ticket rebooked, missed my flight to Brussels (luckily as it had emergency landing anyway) and the next day flew via Munich to Brussels. Anyhow, Poland did change immensely since the 90s. But I can tell you I was really tired on arrival and for the moment I'm quite fed up with anything flying related. Kindle though performed great, especially the 3G in times of need (cosy armchair to check flight situation as opposed to some internet cafe) |
