A question for you. Where are you checking notes, within the book itself or from page 2 of the main screen? I find my bookmarks from the home page. Page 2 technically but they're all there on the device for me.

both spots and not in either. I just received a RMA and it is going back. I may wait a month or so and see how things are going before I get another T1. ;-(

If this is your first Sony reader you have to create an account through the Sony Reader software. Do that, and then login with the account you just created. Once you do that on your computer then login to the Sony Reader store on the device itself, authorize it and you should be good to go. |

Got a PRS-T1 at the weekend to replace my much loved PRS-505 which my husband now has.
To sum up, the hardware is beautiful (free library books, yay), but the PC software is a big pile of steaming poo. I should have used Calibre like normal, but I wanted to back up all my lovely new notes and handwritings. Big mistake. I now have three copies of most of my books instead of one, trying to delete them makes it crash, every time I try to sync my netbook wants to check the book for faults, Reader for PC constantly hangs and crashes (which is presumably what corrupted the internal memory and caused all these duplicate books that don't work). It's deleted a protected note from the reader, which is still on Reader for PC, which won't sync. I've made a big list and backup of everything. Hard reset when I get home from work tonight, methinks. Back to Calibre. Oh well. I was looking forward to using Reader for PC to buy books and sort my library books out, but it seems I can do that direct from the reader without all the steaming poo software issues. So yes. Lovely reader, shame about the software. I'm posting in here partly as a rant, and partly to add my penn'orth, and partly to ask if Adobe Digital Editions/Calibre/just backing it up by drag and drop will back up notes and handwritings so I never have to touch Reader for PC ever again. |

Already done it. I'd only just started out so I had all my old stuff backed up from my old Reader anyway, and I didn't trust it any more so wanted to format the thing too
All has gone as planned. Good old Calibre. |

![]() An additional problem is when I close Reader for PC it does not actually close completely. I need to use the Task Manager to end the process before I can safely remove the reader from the USB. I've uninstalled the software, rebooted, and reinstalled the software. I've tried all the steps suggested here: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...&postcount=111 and here: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...2&postcount=44 I've tried everything suggested on the Sony support site except a hard reset, including uninstalling and reinstalling the USB driver. Any other suggestions before I try a hard reset? I would just forget about it but I need (or at least want) to download library books using the wireless capability (the main reason I chose the T1). I use calibre for everything else. I'm also concerned that a hard reset won't fix the problem of the software not closing properly so I will still have that issue to deal with and I don't have a clue where to even start looking for the problem. Update: I've solved part of the problem. I accessed the Reader Store wirelessly (first time I tried that) and was automatically reauthorized to the public library. So now I can download library books again. I don't know what to do about the software not closing properly. Any suggestions? Last edited by GeckoFriend; 02-27-2012 at 08:26 PM.
