Amazon is in the process of rolling out 5GB of free cloud storage for Kindle 'Personal Documents' (things sent to the @kindle.com address of one of your Kindles), and these will sync and save your bookmarks. Looks like this will be supported by K3 and later models, presumably the apps also as they are updated.)

What I find annoying about Nook STR (I have one) is that you cannot delete any of the side-loaded content. The lack of any wireless method of getting content on Nook is limiting as well. And of course there is no way to back up notes or sync with side-loaded content, even if it is from B&N.

Not only can you 'push' content to Kindle via its @kindle.com email address, but Kindle's web browser also lets you pull from things like Dropbox or Google Docs or download content from Gutenberg, Feedbooks, etc. So there are numerous options for expansion.

I'm assuming you mean cannot delete any of the sideloaded content with the device, correct? I delete sideloaded stuff all the time by plugging it into my laptop. Oh and I personally much prefer physical storage e.g., SD card to cloud storage or any of the other options you cited. The SD card is ALWAYS accessible whereas the cloud is not. Again, personal choice.
