I think of it as a more "connected" place. The world is huge. I tend to see it as being much bigger than before, not smaller. My circle of active friends - those I deal with daily - may be over ten thousand miles away. But the connections are so good, distance makes little difference.

Indeed, calibre itself is the result of contributions from people in the US, UK, France, Germany, Spain, Japan, China, Poland, Russia, Brazil and a few others I'm probably forgetting

Though I must say that right now, my connectivity is restricted to a pokey Mobile broadband connection which makes me rather unhappy
