Amazon's product names sneak a rare glimpse into their top-secret secret plans to conquer the world.

Consider--Kindle! A crap name I first thought. I scoffed. How wrong I was. Now it's synonymous with e-reader. More to the point, the name indicates that Amazon viewed the Kindle as the way to *start* a fire. The Kindle popularised the e-book market. So job well done there, and the magic name worked.

Now--Fire! What could this mean? Well, maybe Amazon is finally ready to take over the world. Do they expect the Fire! to take the market by storm and transform everything?

I don't think "Fire" is going to become synamous with an lcd ereader

Remember all the jokes and derision when the iPad was announced, comparing it to a feminine hygiene product? Then it started selling and pretty much changed computing and the only jokes now are about every inferior tablet that has tried to imitate it or compete with it.

Who knows, maybe Netflix and Amazon share the same marketing consultants...'Cool, I can update my Qwikster queue on my Fire!'
