That was my first thought too. First and foremost any company is in business to make money and while having good customer relations no doubt helps in that goal companies will always do what is cost effective for themselves first.

Amazon is the consumer's friend.
I remember some arguments not so long ago where the publishers and the authors were upset about the impact of Amazon's and others used book business and wanted to change the used book business by continuing to charge every time a book was sold. Oh the stupid arguments that were made. They wanted a cut of the first sale (naturally) and then another from the second, the third, the fourth, and so on. It would be like GM and the UAW getting a cut every time a Chevy was sold for the life of the car and probably a cut of the $50 the junk yard paid to haul it off at the end. I love Amazon's as well as Barnes and Noble's used book business. It is a great deal for the customer. Sure the publisher's and authors might be able to sell another new book if it didn't exist, and sure outlawing used cars lots might sell a few more new cars, but that isn't good for the consumer. When I have a problem with an Amazon product I can send it back, no problem. I can comment on the product's problem and see it in print. Amazon is the consumer's friend! |
