No. Like to think it's because I'm organized, but in reality it's not... I just don't buy many books at all (I borrow from libraries) so the few I buy are easy to keep track of.

I once bought a pbook twice by mistake. Didn't know I already had it and after putting the new book on the shelf, I saw the old book there too...

About ebooks, fictionwise once made a mistake, which causes me two have one book in two formats. I already had part 1 and decided to buy part 2 as well. So, I bought it and downloaded it. Some time later, FW had a problem with their bookshelve, which caused me to have multiple versions of the same book (same format) in there. Once that was solved, I had lost the second book of the series and gained the first book in another format...

Truth be told, I must answer by the negative to the first two words ...

Although for the sake of this argument, I will say that I have purchased twice the same video game. Or not exactly the same, first this game as it was originally released, then years on, in a collection pack that included that one game.

It would have happened more often if I didn't buy most of my books from Amazon. I frequently get the message telling me I have already purchased the book, would I like to download it?

Neither Amazon nor Webscription will let me buy a book twice. (Well, with Webscription I can buy it standalone and then buy a bundle that includes it, but that's not the same thing.)

So the poll needs more options, cause I'd certainly have bought a book again if it weren't for Amazon reminding me I already have it.

Too organized, but more importantly, too cheap. All my books go into Calibre so I always have an updated list of exactly what I have.

Yep, Amazon has saved me from this mistake a couple of times. I've definitely bought pbooks without realizing that I already had purchased them before....as well as on purpose because I LOST the pbook before I got around to reading it.

This is where we need more options - 'cos I've not only bought the same book twice, that I didn't even want in the first place, but I've bought and paid for a few books I never even recieved !
[For a variety of reasons - my own stupidity, crooked sellers, dodgy software etc..]

And just once, I got a book I hadn't purchased, and had never thought of purchasing - and I'm still not sure how that happened........

[Surprisingly, it was quite interesting, actually, about prehistoric fishing........]

I've not purchased 2 copies of the exact same book (Amazon is pretty good at helping to prevent that) but I have accidentally purchased a copy of a book when I had already downloaded another copy for free.

When you get as long in the tooth as I, the senior moments get more frequent and longer. The good news is that I've thoroughly enjoyed both books and movies that I know for sure I’ve seen/read before, but don’t remember a lick of them.

Luckily I discovered it immediately and was able to return it in time. Nowadays Amazon provides a small reminder on the top of the page that I already bought this book on such and such a date. If I'm in a hurry I might miss it though.

Going on a longer trip so I bought no less then 10 titles yesterday, twice I had books come up that I already owned. The reminder saved me 'cause I wouldn't had the time to return it within stated time frame.
