If they exist on both markets, I really doubt you would have to re-purchase. The apps on the Amazon Appstore are not some special Amazon format, iirc. It would be rather foolish of Amazon to make people re-purchase apps they already bought elsewhere. Doesn't mean they wont do it. We'll find out soon enough.

If they don't exist in both markets, I'd say there's a good chance they will eventually, especially of Amazon's tab sells. If. Their appstore already has 15,000 apps and they haven't even released a device. If it's a success, that number will explode. If.

The rumors have done a lot to answer peoples questions and concerns. I'm thinking that many folks who where excited about the amazon tablet are not as interested now that they know the Kindle will be closed and the Android OS will be forked. It's just another nook or eDevice with it's own OS.

There are however a good many folks that love the Amazon experience and will still buy into this tablet simply for that reason. Which is why this will be a great selling tablet. It just won't sell as many as it could have sold if it was a true android tablet.

I agree, I think analyst are starting to wake up to the fact that this is going to be Amazon's answer to the nook color and not to the Xoom, Samsung or iPad.

Now when 10.1 Amazon branded, hopefully not a kindle branded, tablet comes out, then we could be seeing some serious sales in the tablet market

I've never heard that the Amazon Market is integrated with the Google Market such that my purchases from the one could be verified with the other. If that is so, that would be very cool, but I have to think that would require some kind of Amazon/Google cooperation.

I guess there is currently no reason for such verification to exist, since no devices exist yet that are locked into Amazon's android store.

Mybe Amazon wont shut out the Android Market, but won't exactly go out of its way to encourage it either (can you download the Google store app by just going to the website?), and may even label apps on the Amazon Appstore as "Optimized for the Amazon Thingamajig." Maybe even go so far as to not offer support for issues related to non-amazon sold apps.

If people expected that, then they weren't paying attention to the business side of the equation. Amazon isn't trying to get Android religion or to help Google out, they are trying to sell more content.

Still, this will up the Android tablet count against the iPad...

I know. Was talking about games as main source or interest when using a tablet.

They only license it to validated hardware manufacturers. So if your device wasn't approved by Google, you can't officially just download it.
