That's about what I remembered.
I dropped it when Chaykin left; I picked it up cause I liked his work on Sword of Sorcery and Iron Wolf.

I've always wanted a world where each character had only one title. If this means publishing Superman on a weekly basis, so be it. All the confusing crossings between series and story arcs that stretch beyond titles is frustrating.
I think Superman's new armored look works for the character. It could indicate that his level of invulnerability has been reduced and he needs some armor. I have no problem with changes to the costume, as long as it stays true to the character.

As far as the number of comics goes, I think it depends on the character. Some characters, like Superman, have been able to consistently maintain more than one title a month. Others, like The Martian Manhunter, have had a problem maintaining a single monthly series.

When it comes to crossovers and long story arcs, for me it's one of the things that makes comics great. From what I've seen, most other media (including television, movies, and books), the stories are contained within the series and rarely crossover (excluding spinoffs).

As an example, "The Great Darkness Saga" in "Legion Of Super-Heroes" was a story arc that took over two years to play out. The writer did an outstanding job, allowing the story to be revealed slowly and building to a massive epic.

Since I like comedies:
The entire Giffen/Dematteis run on Justice League, (The cover for Limekiller at Large #1 is a homage to that series.),which means I also recommend their series Hero Squared from Boom studios.

I'm a big fan of Marvel's "Essentials" and DC's "Showcase" lines, if for no other reason than you get a bunch of comics for a fairly low price.

Mark Waid's Irredeemable and Incorruptible from Boom Studios are very good.

And of course any Carl Barks Donald Duck or Uncle scrooge stories you can find.

I'd recommend my own series, but since it's not a 100% comic book, I'm not sure if it applies.

EDIT- Almost forgot one: The Cricket by Jef Holbrook, available at Amazon and Barnes and Noble, but I'm not sure about anywhere else. The writing is very funny and the art was deliberately formatted for e-readers, as opposed to just being ported over from a print version. I have mixed feelings on the artwork, but it's growing on me, and I wish the issues were a bit longer, but otherwise it's a good read.

In addition to the Giffen/Dematteis run on "Justice League" I'd also recommend their work (which included art by Kevin McGuire) on "Metal Men" (which appeared in the first few issues of the recent "Doom Patrol" series). For me, it was the best handling of the Metal Men since the mid-70s run which featured art by Walt Simonson and then Joe Staton.

Another vote for The Walking Dead. I'm actually enjoying them more than the show, which I'm finding to be a bit of a disappointment.
