I'm in agreement with those who want the Kindle to open to the cover. It's got to be a relatively easy fix for the people in mobi-world to make, wouldn't you think?

There is no reason the Kindle can't open books at their covers by default, as a user preference setting. Makes no difference what the author set when they made the ebook or what format the ebook is in. If you can reach the cover by a bunch of button presses there is no reason the device can't automatically perform those for you on first opening a book. Or to open at a table of contents. Or first page of text. Just add a user preference option for default opening location so for those of us who have a preference can set it accordingly.
I definitely prefer to open at the cover, I skip forward over the copyright garbage and sometimes read the forward depending on the book. Books are a typically linear experience and I would prefer my ereader device to give me the same experience. |
