Good idea to use the cover.
The problem with electronic item drops and falls is the damage can be internal and cumulative over several drops. Then one day it stops working or the screen "suddenly" cracks. Happened to me with my phone. Would be nice if our electronic readers didn't change size so much from generation to generation. That would reduce the long term cost of the necessary covers. Dean |

I've purchased both, and there is really no difference in the non-matte skins..... I do prefer a matte skin, especially on an ereader. I heard quite some time ago that Gelaskins was going to offer a matte option, but I don't see it on their website yet....

Tuff-Luv Multi-View FTW!
Sure, it makes my gorgeous Sony Reader look ugly as sin (and thus a thief deterrent), but my word how nice it is to have peace of mind when I'm out and about that my precious little darling won't get hurt in any way. Besides, I can also slip the cover off at home when nobody is looking and gasp momentarily at her slim lines and smooth skin. Plus, with the cover on I can hold my Sony Reader in all manner of positions that just wouldn't be possible should it be naked. |

No good using your ereader naked here in Australia, the SPF 30+ sunblock would probably gum up its works.

I agree. Just as a writer needs his notebook (so they won't forget that great idea) a e reader needs a good case. Someone might think 'I'll never forget this idea' and then they do, likewise someone might think 'I'll never drop my Kindle/sony/etc.' and yet they do.

Although some modern books read much better if you're on the slops

1] Yes, it's shock, not impact on the screen, that does for most screens - phones, readers, laptops, etc.. - so you would think by now someone would come up with an g-absorbing idea to more or less obviate this problem And they probably have [NASA, F1, etc..] , but costs too much to make, and diminish the number of replacements bought.. 2] indeed, but when "they" start thinking sensibly, and of the consumer first, well......it won't happen, will it ! Although you'll know they've changed tactics when all devices come with a charger . ![]() |

Also, I do find that with the cover, my 650 is actually easier to hold. |

The Gelaskin was a little sturdier that Decal Girl, has better artwork and has self-submission options. It also had a better adhesive IMO - it was much easier to apply than the Decal Girl, it stuck better but still was very easy to remove with no residue. Gelaskin (for Kobo at least) has tabs that sort of wrap around the sides where the Decal Girl did not. Gelaskins does not offer a non-matte skin as far as I know. |

One of the friends I gave a reader to, has had a stroke. He cannot move his right arm. I am going to go over to his place this weekend and see if I can find his Nook, charge it up and take it to him in the hospital. I'll take it out of the cover for him, I think, because the cover will be in the way when he's trying to manage it left handed. If he drops and breaks it, I'll get him another - Nook Classics are probably dirt cheap by now, and sticking with something he already knows how to operate, will be easiest for him.
So, naked it is. |

i think it's situation dependent. around the house not using a cover is fine, but when i travel and am in public places, i keep it in its cover.
