Thanks a lot for the pictures and the reviews. Did anyone get the dark blue one?

Hey, isn't the one shown on pic a dark blue one? Or maybe you meant silver one?

I got the dark blue one. The silver looks very nice, but I was concerned about what it would be like trying to read with it in the sun. Those light colors reflect a lot more and can make reading more difficult.

Yup, I mainly went with the blue, as the darker border makes the screen appear to be marginally brighter as well.

I purchased a 505 in sliver about 2 days ago (yesterday morning) and am very happy. I am under no illusions that the sony reader is the best device. But I do think that it will be the widest used, most available device for some time. Part of my conversion over to e-books (we have had a reb1100 for 6-7 years now) is to convert over family. We are going to be getting 1-2 500's from the credit card offer once they are available. So we will acutely have extra readers to "loan" out to people.

The reader is very nice, the screen refresh is much more acceptable, and the direct sd card and memory drag and drop works like a charm. I have been going fb2 to lrf.

I have some good news for you maybe...

Rumor has it that when the Sony Rewards finally gets in more readers that it will be the 505 and not the 500. I'm hoping so. I have a 505 on order now and will give my Mother-in-law my reader. If I can get another 505 via the credit card offer, I'll give that to my wife and sell hers.

I might be able to once i get a 505. But until then, I'd rather not go into the SonyStyle shop and shoot video.

I'd like to see them do a screen flip option -- that would effectively give us buttons on both sides without having them on both sides. Shouldn't cost all that much more, assuming the display controller (and their programmers) can handle the challenge.
That could be a worthwhile hack! If it's possible anyone interested? I'd like that on the 500.
