Well, I hate to say we have TRIED to get discussions going (and even opened a Calibre bug report). It was outright closed by Kovid with the statement that Kobo have buggy firmware.

I have also attempted to make contact with the Product Manager from Kobo to see how we, the community, can work with Kobo to track down what is happening, and had no luck there either. This is not to say things are not happening, just that I don't know what they are

Agree with Peter - I haven't had the cover problem but I have had other problems with calibre which have been discussed on the calibre forum and here.

I logged a call with calibre - it was closed with the response that the kobo touch is "buggy" and to contact kobo about it.

If your bug reports get closed down with that comment, then believe me, there's nothing that can be done within Calibre to fix the problem. The developers don't just do such things because they want to annoy you. If they seem to be a little brusque about it (which I know happens sometimes), it's probably because there are quite a few questions that get asked again and again all the time.
