Hmm...I'll have to try that, since I just experienced the Error message again - after the new firmware update.

Happily, I haven't had any "Storage Errors" since I stopped using the Calibre software to eject my KT. In my case (and with a few others), Calibre doesn't seem to complete eject the KT.

I now use ONLY the Windows 7 "Safely remove Hardware" icon on the task bar.

However, if you are not using Calibre this won't be of much use to you - but do make absolutely sure you are eject your KT correctly

I just had the "Internal Storage Error" happen for the second time. I have never used Calibre with my KT, and it had been at least 10 days since the last time I had connected my KT to my computer. I always use the Windows "Safely remove hardware" before disconnecting it.

I just turned on my KT (it automatically sleeps after 15 min, and then powers off after 30 min), and it immediately reported the Internal Storage error. I had last used it around 15 hours before.

This is very annoying, since I had to reload all my non Kobo books, and I lost all my bookmarks for the books I was in the process of reading.

How can the filesystem so easily get corrupted? Do I have faulty Flash memory (or whatever they are using for internal storage)? Should I exchange it?

I have had this error twice. For both times it had been at least a week since I'd connected it into my computer. So I don't think it has anything to do with how I've ejected it. If that were the case shouldn't it have occurred sooner than 7-10 days? It seems pretty random to me.

I don't bother putting more than 5 books on the KT now. It's too time consuming having to reload my library over and over again. I hope it's fixed soon.

The storage error just happened again. That's the 3rd time for me and the second time in 3 days. This time, I only had it connected to my laptop via USB one time (to load 2-3 books), and I know for sure that I ejected it properly (safely remove hardware).

I last used it yesterday, and put it to sleep when I was done, and it was set to automatically power down after 30 min.

It showed the storage error immediately when I powered it on today.

This issue has nothing to do with how it is removed from the computer.

Is it possible it is a hardware problem? I bought a KT for my wife at the same time and she has never had the error on hers. Should I try to exchange it? Does it matter that I bought it at FutureShop, and I have had it over 30 days?

One more thing, it appears to use up an ADE authorization each time I have to reformat my KT. ADE now won't let me authorize it with my Adobe ID. How do I get my authorization count reset?

This can be done via the Adobe web site. Go to http://www.adobe.com/support/digitaleditions and open a support ticket requesting a reset of your activation count.

Well my borrowed time ran out. I had another instance of the dreaded error message. I called Kobo today and they have started a ticket. I also told them the problem wasn't unique to me and that others had posted similar experiences on this thread.

If Kobo comes up with something that sounds like a solution or identifies the problem I will update.

Also, I think it's been noted before but if you hit cancel or close the window, everything appears to continue to work fine, except when you try to sync, at which point you get the error message again and you won't get any new additions to download.

Just as a point of interest, my wife was having frequent problems with the Kobo's memory becoming corrupted, and it turns out the problem was that she had multiple programs open at the same time when accessing her Kobo from her computer. Specifically, she had Kobo Desktop and Adobe Digital Editions open when transferring books. This would reliably corrupt the main memory (even after ejecting the device from the Window's task bar) and force her to perform a factory reset to fix it. Once we discovered the source of the problem, she is careful to only have one program open at a time and to disconnect the Kobo and let it update between programs (as opposed to simply closing one program and then immediately opening another with the Kobo connected). She hasn't had any problems since.

Same message

Happened to me once. Had new Kobo a couple of days.

I had a poorly formatted novel and was redoing the CSS in Sigil while deleting it in Calibre and on the Kobo, then reloading the corrected version in Calibre and on the Kobo. Needless to say I screwed something up and got the reset message. I ignored it and found even though I had deleted it from Kobo via Calibre and it no longer showed in library I was unable to side load it from Calibre and see it in library.

At this point I noticed a folder for the novel in the file browser(Dolphin), dragging it to the trash, disconnecting from the pc, powering the Kobo down, then reconnecting, I was able to side load from Calibre and see the corrected version in the Kobo library.

Weird how some never see it and others can't hide from it. I've never seen the error myself.

Several times I've unplugged the usb cord without ejecting after loading several books from calibre and no errors. But in my case I set the drive for "quick removal" in Windows 7 so at least in my case ejecting the device isn't supposed to be required anyway.

I'm betting this is the problem most people are actually having - not ejecting their Kobo between program instances (even instances of the same program if you have to reopen the program for some reason).

I encountered this problem as well when the Kobo software did the last update on my Kobo Touch. Perhaps it was coincidental but nonetheless that was the only thing that was different.
