With Kindle, if you don't know how to remove DRM or you choose not to for ethical reasons, there's nowhere else you can buy books for the device. I like having options. Amazon only is not options. |

Wrong. There are dozens of places to buy books to read on a Kindle.

Basically, a Kindle owner can buy books from any site that sells books without DRM, and such sites do exist. I'm sure there are others. Last edited by graycyn; 07-24-2011 at 08:10 PM. Reason: added words "DRM free" |

Unless the newest (1.7) firmware has changed the browser, I can't call it functional. My classic 3G running 1.5 and I find the browser hard to use.

(eye roll at the locked in silliness)
Just when I think that the board had learned that there are DRM free stores that Kindle users can buy from someone goes back to the locked in silliness. Never mind that even if you were "Locked in" to the Kindle you would be able to buy the same books as you could for an EPub reader because Amazon's selection is huge and you can find the same books in Mobi at Amazon as you can scouring the EPub book stores. Or that any EPub user who does not have a Nook is locked out of one of the biggest EPub bookstores in BN. Format is simply not the issue that people want it to be. Buy the E-reader you are most comfortable with, that has the features you want, and that is in your price point. They all work pretty much the same and you will be able to get a hold of plenty of books. |

Sure you can buy DRM free Mobipocket and use them with the Kindle. But if you buy any eBooks from Amazon that have DRM, you've just locked yourself into Amazon.

Fictionwise.com is not all erotica. They sell just about every genre. Allromanceebooks has all kinds of romance, not just erotica. There are other ebook sellers, I just listed the ones I am most familiar with, as I read romance and erotica.
JSWolf I hardly see why that would matter to me, as I own a Kindle. If I choose to buy a book from Amazon, not only will they send the copy to my device or my PC or both, they will also send it to me as many times as I should need it. I don't buy books from them often, but when I do, I'm very happy with my purchase. Not only that, for $139 a person can purchase a Kindle with free 3G and connect not only to the Amazon store but also slog through the internet if needed. No other reader can offer that, for that price, now can they? Last edited by booklover6; 07-26-2011 at 07:49 AM. |

And if you buy a book from BN that has DRM you have just locked yourself into BN. Your point?
I mean, your wrong and we all know that, but I figure I would try to find out what your point is. |
