There is no way to know (currently) which device is more durable without buying both and testing them out. But the problem i then that you'll have a damaged device or two and no way to return them as most likely it will also be the case that has damage as well as the screen.

So saying that the K3 is more durable because it's been out longer is not valid. And, you cannot compare the new nook with the older nooks as they are not made similar enough.

Not true. A sleeve protects the device when you are not using it, like when you are going for camping or during a trip. I've dropped my Kindle 3, while not using it and with the sleeve on, nothing happened.

I don't like cases, they make my Kindle 3 too heavy and bulky. If I drop my Kindle and breaks, I don't care. I will replace it. It's cheap, at least for me.
