I am waiting for someone to suggest a Thai peanut sauce chicken pizza sprinkled with M&Ms.

Actually, I hope that doesn't happen.

I might violate my parole terms.

Guys... it just isn't all that difficult to make at home... The most important piece of gear is the pizza stone if you want a crispy crust, or a deep cast iron pan if you like thick and chewy, and you can get these in every single country I've lived in.

And if that is to difficult, dial 1-800-Dominoes...

lol...your intentions are good Stitchawl, but not so easy in Asia. While there are Pizza Huts in HK and a few chain pizza joints, none match the local pizza places you and I are familiar with from NYC/Queens.

And man...mozarella cheese in HK is frickin' expensive! lol

I have two pizzas recipes without the crust.
One is with a basis of minced meat, covered with tomato sauce, any cheese you have, anchovies and origano. Just bake it.

Second one is the same but with the base of steamed spinaches. On this one I do not use tomatoes, but grated cheese, plenty of garlic (sliced) and whatever else you like. An egg for each person maybe? Sunny side up. Few rushes of bacon? Bake this one also.

I could take pictures, but I don't think that's the kind of "sharing" you'd appreciate.

Cheers,

**ducking and getting ready to run** I'm not a pizza person, but if I have no choice, I will choose thin crust with pineapple, mozzarella cheese, artichoke hearts, and tomatoes.

I like 'em fresh, hot, thin, and crispy off our pizza stone at home. No tomato sauce, please. Just shitake and oyster mushrooms, a little prosciutto, some rosemary, a little olive oil, and some cheeses like fontina, mozarella, and parmigiano-reggiano. It may be very different from a tomato-based pizza (which I also like) but this one's fabulous. Gotta try it!
When we were Italy, on the coast, my boyfriend asked around about the best pizza place. He had visions about tasting an incredible pizza in Italy. So, we went where so many recommended. We were served a very, very thin crust drizzled with olive oil and covered in green olives with dipping bread and a plate of mozzarella and tomoatoes. My boyfriend thought it was the appetizer instead of the meal. I teased him forever after, as he was expecting something like he ate in NY.

VR - do you use your pizza stone in the kitchen oven or in an outdoor oven?

Base - Italian.
I like it to be thin, so that I don't have to munch through tons of bread to feel the topping flavours

Toppings - double cheese, pepperoni, pineapple.

When I stayed at my bis-aunt (the aunt of my mother) place in a plush part of Naples, some time they ordered a pizza. They came in a big brass container to keep them warm. The boy knocked on the window of the kitchen and the cook took it and dished it out for us (yes my aunt had a she cook, that was just paradise). They were absolutely sublime. Just tomatoes, cheese and a leaf or two of basil. We cut it in wedges and eat it with the hand, folding the wedge, so that the wet part was inside. Not crusty, not soft. Not thin, not thick. Not too much topping, not too little.

My aunt made fun of me. You got too much crown, poor boy. Have mine she said. You need all your strength at your age, pretty as you are. Lovely lady. She knew how to treat a grand nephew. Too bad that after few weeks I had to go.

I love Italy. And Italians.

Those little pizzas with the green olives that Shel mentioned are sublime. There is a place near the Coliseum where you can sit and watch the busy modern Romans zipping around against the timeless backdrop of history. Have the green olive pizza, some gelato, and coffee while chatting about everything with Gionni (call me Jon-Jon, like handsome president) and his mom. We have been there several times.
