Just got home and upgraded as per one of the other users on here's write up.
It went flawlessly. Afterwards I installed the Android Market (won't even run, closes back to app screen) and the Amazon Market...so far all works except angry birds (which others mentioned doesnt work). I was able to access and download/install most of my games/apps that I've been collecting as the Free Paid App of the Day through Amazon. As soon as I logged in, it said I had a bunch of apps to install. I hit NOOOOO!! then grabbed the few I wanted. I got the Fancy Widgets Sense looking clock loaded and some other games and apps. After I updated to 2.2.1 it's A LOT nicer looking (colorful, crisp, clear, etc, wow Android 1.6 was a turd!). It has all the familier things I'm used to on my phone, so that's a plus. It's a LOT slower than my phone, and less responsive (Evo 4G) but the improvement in speed, responsiveness, and even the look and feel is a night and day difference than how it came out of the box a few hours earlier. I cant wait to get more into this! I'm about to load some books I've had downloaded for a while now and had no e-reader to use them on, and see what other games/apps work on it ![]() I'm glad to see how large the community here is, everyone is so helpful! ![]() I'm so glad I took the chance and grabbed this off Woot last week. It's a winner (for the price that is LOL, its not my buddy's Xoom, but I also paid a FRACTION of the price). After seeing this thing, he wants an e-reader now. It's a lot slower than |

That was really informative, thanks for the list you put together, I actually used your how to guide for the update out of the box. As someone who does technical writing for the masses to understand, it's a job well done. Kudos. |

At least it had another one to keep it company on the world's slowest moving cross country truck, but mine just made it to Sacramento this afternoon. If it makes it to SSF tonight, there's a chance it'll be on a delivery truck tomorrow, but I'm not particularly hopeful. Still showing the 14th as delivery day. A bummer since I have way more free time tomorrow and I'm mostly booked up for the weekend. I guess I'll just read the Resources thread again and watch a few videos.

Song Title: My Red PE Is Stuck In Chino
IT's been there two days now. I need it on a truck south to San Diego.
I should remember this distribution center, since it's about 10 miles from my In-Law's place. I want my red ermine. ![]() |

It finally came! Not sure how it made it to SF from Sacramento - it seems they got it as far as Sac and then went USPS and the nice mailman knocked on my door this morning with a present. I like the woot box. Time to play......

Well, if it comes to songs, let's hope it is not following to the letter the whole lyrics of "Route 66"...

My 2 black and 1 red PE arrived, except as 3 black and 0 red. It's OK, I'll get skins for them anyway.

I also upgraded to Ermine. The only issues I've had are lockups from mostly "action" type games and Amazon Market apps that don't install. Occasionally, wifi doesn't work after long hibernation, but a reboot fixes that.
One of the neatest apps/widgets I've found so far is the "FlexT9 Text Input" widget. It was Amazons free app of the day just days after getting my PE. It is excellent if you don't have a keyboard for input. It allows you to easily switch between "Speak, Trace, Write, and Tap" input methods. All of which work surprisingly well and are much faster than the standard tap input method. I got it for free but it's worth the $5 price if you don't want to haul a keyboard around. |

I was having trouble finding the unlock security settings but I finally had success!
1) Installed and launched MySettings from Side Me 2) The first time I clicked the MySettings lock icon, I got the normal "Location and security settings" screen. 3) I previously had set the credential store password. This time I also enabled "Use secure credentials". 4) Now when I click the MySettings lock icon, I get the "Screen unlock security" settings screen. |

I got a black one (no pun intended), upgraded smoothly. I think PE is great, of course I wish the screen was nicer/sharper and more responsive (it is pretty bad without stylist). But after learning a few tricks PE becomes a very affordable and quite literary handy device. I got an original Droid and I was able to tether it to PE and it is awesome, I also love the eink conversion tools. PE is a solid device, and for the price paid it is a steal! I see it being useful for years to come; I just hope the company will survive.
